In order to draw in talent, skilled workers, freelancers, investors, and entrepreneurs, the UAE has established new 5-year residence tracks. The program allows more generous grace periods, up to six months, for people to remain in the nation after their residence permit is revoked or expires.

Skilled Employees:

This grants skilled workers a 5-year residence without the need for a sponsor or employer. According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, the candidates should be in the first, second, or third occupational level and possess a current job contract. A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is required as the minimum educational requirement, and the annual income cannot be less than Dh15, 000.

Self-employed people and freelancers

This route offers five-year residency for independent contractors and self-employed people without the need for a sponsor or employer in the UAE, in keeping with the rising significance of flexible work patterns.

A freelancing or self-employment permit must be obtained from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization. Bachelor’s degree or specialized certification should be the required minimum level of education. The self-employment revenue over the preceding two years should have been at least Dh 360, 000.

Partners or Investors

The introduction of this residence aims to promote investment. Investors who create or engage in business activity are granted a 5-year residence. It takes the place of the previous residency, which was only effective for two years. The permission of the investment and investment documentation are required. The total invested capital will be determined if the investor (partner) has several licenses. It is necessary to have the relevant municipal authorities’ approval.
